Old Car Shows in Georgia

Car shows featuring gleaming classic autos are held throughout Georgia. Depending on your particular area of interest and location, you can find a show to see others' classic cars or to display your own. Indeed, the website Car Show News lists more than 100 events in the state, some featuring particular makes and others aiding charitable causes.

  1. Atlanta

    • While the Atlanta International Auto Show focuses more on modern car designs, just 40 miles away from central Atlanta is the annual Flowery Branch Classic Car Show and Chili Cookoff. Beyond its classic car element, the show has the feel of a town fair or carnival, with prizes for the best chili and such. In 2010, the Flowery Branch show was held in September, with a prize of $100 awarded for the best classic car. The classic car section of the competition is divided between VW cars and other classics, so if you are a fan of classic Volkswagens, this will be a car show for you.

    Augusta

    • Augusta is home to a variety of classic car clubs, all of which have a slightly different focus. The Central Savannah River Area Road Angels host a car show the first Friday of the month from April to October. The focus of the show is on muscle cars and collectibles, with all proceeds donated to charity. The Central Savannah River Area is home to the CSRA Mustang club, which hosts its annual show in April each year. In 2011, the event is on April 16. It will attract Mustangs from throughout the region, including cars from neighboring South Carolina.

    Woodstock

    • Woodstock, a small town close to Atlanta, has three major classic car shows. The ''Cruising on Main'' show is held the first Friday of every month. Classic cars drive in convoy down the Main Street beginning at 5 p.m. It is free to join in, and you do not need to register. In June, the Prowler's Baseball car show raises money for the local baseball team. In 2010, this was hosted on June 12. In October, the Bethlehem Bazaar Car and Craft show is hosted by a local church to raise money for its December Bethlehem event. In 2010, this was held on Oct. 1-2.

    LaGrange

    • In October, LaGrange hosts the LaGrange Shrine Car Club show to raise money for the local children's hospital. This event welcomes all cars, trucks and motorcycles, and in 2010, was held on Oct. 23. The entry fee was a donation of $20 in 2010, all of which went to the hospital. Again, this is more of a town fair than simply a classic car show.
