With the rise in popularity of the eponymous MTV reality show, the Jersey Shore has become a prime location for vacationers. But the Jersey Shore has been sought out by tourists for years, thanks to the many forms of recreation available.
The Jersey Shore stretches along the eastern border of New Jersey. From Sandy Hook in the north to Cape May in the south, there are more than 30 towns that constitute the Jersey Shore, which runs along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
The first season of MTV's "Jersey Shore" was filmed in Seaside Heights, a beach town located in Ocean County toward the northern end of the New Jersey coastline. The small, 0.3-square-mile town is home to 3,100 residents.
In addition to the bar and nightclub scene portrayed on television, the Jersey Shore is home to countless other recreational activities that draw visitors. The beach is home to surfing and boating, while bike rentals are available to ride the coastline. Golf and camping are also available along the shoreline.
