Springtime on the Jersey Shore is when the region is beginning to build up to the busiest summer season. The weather is fine, but not too hot and humid, making it the ideal time to go for those who don't like the heat being too extreme. At the end of May, the annual Spring Lake Five Mile Run is a great event for running enthusiasts to have a pleasant run before it gets too hot. The Cape May Music Festival, filled with performances of different music genres, starts in the third week of May and goes on until mid-June. Spring in Jersey Shore is also perfect for some beach time, swimming in the sea is pleasant and doing other outdoor activities like cycling and walking is enjoyable.
Summer in the Jersey Shore is when many Americans flock to the area to enjoy their summer vacation. The resorts are busy, the weather is hot and humid, and the whole region is buzzing with activity. As well as water sports and boat trips, there are a number of outdoor festivals for holiday-makers to enjoy such as the Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Warren County Farmers' Fair. It's also the perfect season for spending relaxing afternoon wine-tasting at one of the many vineyards in the area, and spending evenings enjoying the region's many fine restaurants and outdoor evening music shows.
The sea along the Jersey Shore is still warm enough to swim in until mid-October, so beach activities are still very much possible at this time of year. If you find the sea too cold for swimming, you could always get a wetsuit on to do some water sports and surfing. The Cape May Jazz festival takes place towards the end of fall each year, with a number of performances taking place in venues across the Cape May area. As it starts to get chillier towards the end of the season, it's the perfect chance to enjoy some of the Jersey Shore's indoor activities, such as watching a play at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center or heading to one of Atlantic City's casinos.
The cold winter season on the Jersey Shore is perfect for winter sport enthusiasts. With a number of skiing resorts and snow schools, such as the Hidden Valley Club and the Mountain Creek Ski Resort, visitors can enjoy skiing and snow-boarding by day and enjoying the après-ski at the bars and restaurants by night. The Campgaw Mountain Ski Area also offers inner tubing in the snow. At the beginning of December every year free horse and carriage rides are available in Ocean City, and from the end of November until early January, Cape May is transformed into a Dickens village, perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit old English style.
