Comedians Sammy Shore and Rudy DeLuca opened LA's Comedy Store in 1972 with the intention of bringing nationally touring and local stand-up comics to the Southern California scene. After expanding the original 99-seat theater to a much larger 450-seat main area in 1974, The Comedy Store began bringing in talented comics like Steve Martin, David Letterman and Richard Pryor to perform on the weekends and during the week. Since most of the comedians entertaining the crowd at this venue start their sets at 9 p.m., this LA attraction is a good choice for tourists wanting to enjoy themselves all night long.
