Salamanca, New York, is 60 miles south of Buffalo and is the gateway to Allegheny State Park, which lies just to the south. The Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel is the only casino in Salamanca, and was authorized by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988 (IGRA), passed at the federal level, and a compact signed between New York and several Indian tribes.
The Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel is owned by the Seneca Gaming Corporation (SGC), which is a tribal corporation owned by the Seneca Nation of Indians. The Seneca Nation of Indians is a member of the Iroquois Confederacy and has 7,200 enrolled members. The Seneca Nation of Indians also owns almost all of Salamanca.

The Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel has a 68,000-square-foot gambling floor with more than 2,000 slot machines and 40 table games. Table games include traditional games like craps, roulette and blackjack, along with newer games like Texas Hold 'Em, Spanish 21 and Caribbean Stud Poker. The casino also has a nonsmoking area called Turtle Island.
