Upstate New York Casinos

New York State has embraced gambling as a way of making money. Even with Casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas reporting record losses, Indian Gaming is making plans for more casinos in upstate New York. To any New Yorker, upstate New York is anything outside New York City. Governor David Paterson looks to gambling as an economic savior to the state. Since 2001 nine casinos have opened in racetracks across the state, and Governor Patterson is pushing for a tribe to build a Vegas-style gambling casino 90 miles from New York City.
