    • Turning Stone Resort Casino is owned and operated by the Oneida Indian Nation in Verona, New York, about 90 miles from Ithaca. The facility opened in 1993 and was the first land-based casino in New York. The casino includes 2400 multi-game digital slot machines, 80 gaming tables and Keno. Accommodations at the resort include the Tower Hotel, the tallest structure in Central New York. Turning Stone has 21 dining venues and a PGA golf course, according to its website.

    Tioga and Vernon Downs "Racinos"

    • Tioga Downs, in Nichols, New York, is approximately 40 miles from Ithaca. This horse racing facility features harness racing. Called a "racino," it has 19,000 square feet of gaming space with 750 video gaming machines. The property has two restaurants. A sister property, Vernon Downs, in Vernon, New York, is about 100 miles from Ithaca. The Vernon racino also has a hotel and six dining venues.

    Seneca Nation Casinos

    • The Seneca Nation of Indians historically controlled and protected the western territories of the Iroquois Confederacy and was known as "Keeper of the Western Door." Seneca Nation territories encompassed what is now western New York and that region in now home to a number of Seneca Nation Casinos: The Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel, Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel, Seneca Gaming and Entertainment with two locations in Salamanca and Irving. A fifth casino, the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, in Buffalo's Inner Harbor district is scheduled to open in spring of 2010.

      The Seneca Niagara property is in Niagara Falls, New York, about 165 miles from Ithaca. It has a 26-story hotel, said to be the largest hotel in western New York. The casino has 4200 slot machines, 100 gaming tables and a poker room. The Seneca Allegany property is in Salamanca, New York, about 150 miles from Ithaca. The casino has 2200 slot machines and 40 gaming tables, including poker tables.

      The newest Seneca casino, the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, about 154 miles from Ithaca, will include a 22-story all-suite hotel and a full-service luxury spa and salon. The casino is expected to have 2000 slot machines, 45 gaming tables and four restaurants.

      The Seneca nation also operates two smaller casinos under the name Seneca Gaming and Entertainment. The Irving, New York, casino, about 180 miles from Ithaca, has 500 video slots, 8 poker tables and bingo. The Salamanca, New York, casino, about 156 miles from Ithaca, has video gaming machines, a poker room and bingo.
