Orlando is the amusement park capital of Florida, if not the whole United States. With Walt Disney World and a wide variety of other resorts and attractions, it's where people of all ages come to have fun and relax. For seniors, there are a number of activities, ranging from visiting these parks to relaxing with simple, fun games.
Disney World is the major attraction in the Orlando area and is best known for being a vacation spot for parents and their children. However, senior citizens can have an enjoyable time at Disney World as well. Look into renting a golf cart or having someone drive you around so that you don't have to walk as much. Visiting the hidden treasures of the world showcase in EPCOT Center is entertaining, as is a tour of the Gardens of the World, which explore the horticulture of the Walt Disney World Gardens. A behind-the-scene tours of how Disney World operates also might be entertaining.
Attached to most resorts in the Orlando area are golf courses and bocce ball lawns for seniors to relax and play. Bocce ball can be played in a very small area and is a soothing activity that can really be done anywhere there is an open space. Try the Hilton Orlando, which has bocce ball courts for both the guests and the public, or the beach, where bocce ball can easily be played on the sand.
Discovery Cove is a tropical park with dolphins, fish and a wide variety of other animals visitors can swim and play with, as well as learn about. Seniors can swim with these marine animals, as well as learn about them as they walk through the park and talk to the local guides and naturalists who work there. Tropical birds will eat out of their hands and feeding and swimming with dolphins is always a fun activity. If swimming is not an option, there are a number of beaches to lay out on within the park itself. An admission to Discovery Cove also allows seniors to visit other amusement parks like Sea World or the local aquarium in Orlando.
