Home to part of the Appalachian Mountains and the Allegheny Mountains, West Virginia has long been known as the mountain state for its rugged terrain. If you are seeking a vacation spot away from it all but don't want to stay somewhere large and commercial, opt for a small cabin set in the mountains of West Virginia.
Although they do offer cabins with two and three bedrooms, Country Road Cabins has three units available that have just one as well. Choose from "Almost Heaven," "Laurel" and "Marathon," all of which have one queen bed, a pullout sofa, a private hot tub, fireplace, microwave, TV, VCR and telephone. If you are planning a romantic trip, ask about their romantic cabin getaway package that is available by request.

This large property rental has several one bedroom cabins available for travelers. Some options include the "Old Virginian on Slatyfork Farm" and the "Cabin at Hidden River" that is situated next to the Elk River. These cabins are a bit more rustic and may not have all of the amenities you can find in a luxury cabin, such as TV, microwave and air conditioning. However, they all provide a bedroom, small kitchen and oftentimes a telephone.

Although these cabins were built in 1998, they still maintain a rustic feeling, set deep within the West Virginia mountains. Oppossum Creek has two cabins available with one bedroom, both of which offer a hot tub, TV, VCR, gas log fireplace and air conditioning; there is no phone in either cabin, making them an ideal retreat from unwanted calls during your vacation. Children aged 12 and under are free, with a limit of one child per adult.
