Booneville, a small town located in upstate New York in Oneida County, is 35 miles north of Utica and 48 miles southeast of Watertown. Gerrit Boon, who is considered the founder, established the settlement of Booneville in 1795. Since its founding, Boonville has remained a rustic and tightknit community. In winter or summer, there are many things to do, especially outdoor activities. Regular events include weekly farmer's markets, Toepath Trekker meetings where you can hike and kayak with fellow outdoor lovers, and recreation programs for children.
Woodgate Pines is a public, full 18-hole and 70-par golf course in Booneville. The course, open for almost 80 years, is a bluegrass course with three sets of tee boxes. A driving range is also on the premises for those looking to work on their swings.

Pixley Falls State Park is open year-round for various winter and summertime activities such as hunting, hiking, fishing and walking nature trails. You can also enjoy, or host, events at one of its pavilion areas. Pixley Falls State Park's main attraction is its 50-foot waterfall, which can be viewed from many picnic areas.

A favorite recreation location by Booneville locals is Stysh's Brown Barn Campground, where visitors can go camping, swimming and fishing, as well as hike along its many trails. Camping sites are available with full hookups and hot water for showering. In the winter, snowmobiling and cross country skiing are common; equipment can be rented for most of these activities. The campground is very close to the Alder Creek Golf Course and also Turin Highland Country Club and Country Inn, where you can also play golf and enjoy lunch and dinner. Stysh's Brown Barn Campground is also near Moose River, which offers a challenging whitewater rafting experience.
