Indoor water parks provide worry-free fun during all kinds of weather. Pennsylvania has three well-known water parks that are open all year long. They provide an ideal getaway during the dark, cold winter months and even during a less-than-perfect summer.
Splash Lagoon is an indoor water park located in the northwestern city of Erie. The facility houses 10 indoor water slides for year-round enjoyment. Three of the water slides are located in an area dedicated to younger children, while a large pool nearby flaunts giant floating lily pads and a tree house. Three other family pools are available, as well as a "lazy river," which is a narrowly shaped pool with a current. Splash Lagoon also offers an activity center full of "dry" activities, including an arcade, lazer tag, magic show and movies of the day.

The Great Wolf Lodge is located in the Pocono Mountains in eastern Pennsylvania. The lodge houses one of the United State's largest indoor water parks, with 380,000 gallons of water--enough to offer 11 huge slides, six pools, a giant water fort and a lazy river. Outdoor water activities are also available, weather permitting. Great Wolf Lodge offers dry activities such as a gaming station with Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox game consoles. A unique activity is the Race Zone, where you can have your picture taken digitally and use it to electronically design a pretend driver's license. You also can create your own remote control vehicle.

The Split Rock Resort has an indoor water park called "H20ooohh Indoor Family Waterpark." Three water slides are available to entertain the entire family. In addition to water slides, the resort offers wet play areas, hot tubs and a "flow rider," where you can practice your surfing skills.
