Entertainment for Kids in Indianapolis

As the largest city located in the state of Indiana, Indianapolis plays hosts every year to the very popular Indianapolis 500 race car event. The Indianapolis Colts professional football team play their home games in this city during the NFL season as well. There are plenty of entertainment centers and activities for kids to partake of in the city of Indianapolis, including indoor water parks and the Indianapolis Zoo.

  1. Skateland Roller Skating

    • Featuring a very large indoor roller skating rink that is open seven days a week, Indianapolis' Skateland Rolling Skating also offers kids arcade games in its main building as well. This entertainment center also features a full pizza restaurant. Parents can also hold a large birthday party celebration for their kids at Skateland Roller Skating. Various party packages feature unlimited sodas for party participants, reserved table seating, 10 video game tokens for each kid at the party and one slice of pizza for each guest. Other attractions at this center include a Wheel of Fortune machine and a house DJ playing music for the kids as they skate.

    Children's Museum of Indianapolis

    • The Children's Museum of Indianapolis contains more than 110,000 different types of artifacts. This museum's "Dinosphere" exhibit features a large variety of dinosaur skeletons and fossilized bones that show how huge these animals were when they roamed the world. Kids will also enjoy the SpaceQuest Planetarium located in the museum that contains a full-dome projection screen that encompasses the entire theater. Showing such short films like "Wonders of the Universe" and "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure," kids will be able to have a fun time while learning about our vast universe as well.

    Indianapolis Zoo

    • Kids who want to experience what it's like to train dolphins as an occupation can get their chance while visiting the Indianapolis Zoo. The Junior Dolphin Trainer program at this zoo allows kids five and up to watch and to interact with their assigned dolphins as the main dolphin show starts up. When the professional trainer cues the kid to raise his/her hand at the proper moment, the child's assigned dolphin will perform the trick that the dolphin performs regularly. The Junior Train Engineer program offers kids five and up the opportunity to ride at the front of a small working train to experience what it's like to engineer a train.
