Snowmobile Resorts in Wisconsin

When some people think of Wisconsin, they picture a snow-covered north woods landscape. Northern Wisconsin does get a lot of snow, and for people who love to snowmobile, it's an ideal winter vacation destination. A number of resorts in northern Wisconsin cater to snowmobiling with special services by linking to miles of trails and allowing guests to park their vehicles right outside their cabin door.

  1. Flambeau Forest Resort

    • Flambeau Forest Resort is located 18 miles east of Winter on Lake of the Pines, which is about 100 miles from Eau Claire. The resort is in an area with more than 500 miles of snowmobile trails. From the resort, snowmobilers can access trails through the Flambeau River State Forest, Chequamegon National Forest, Tuscobia Trail and Pine Line Trail. Flambeau Forest Resort offers five cabins for rent, which sleep between four and seven people. Each cabin includes a shower, stove, refrigerator, microwave, cooking utensils, dishes and bed linens. Each cabin rental also includes a row boat, two canoes, a Weber grill, deck chairs and a fire pit.

    Maplewood Resort

    • Maplewood Resort on Dam Lake rents deluxe lakeside vacation homes with direct access to snowmobile trails. It is located outside of Eagle River, about 140 miles from Green Bay. The resort is at the intersections of the St. Germaine/Bo-Boen, Sugar Camp and Eagle River snowmobile trails systems. There are a number of snowmobile rental agencies near Maplewood Resort. The cabins at the resort can sleep from five to 16 people. Each unit is equipped with a bathroom and shower, stove, refrigerator, microwave, utensils, and bed linens. All include satellite television, and many have DVD players. Maplewood offers a large beach for swimming and sunbathing in warmer weather, a game room and boats for rent.

    Pine Lake Lodge

    • Pine Lake Lodge is located 13 miles south of Hurley, about 215 miles north of Green Bay. It has four-season cabins for rent and an on-site restaurant with a full menu and bartenders. In addition, Pine Lake Lodge prides itself on being located on the main thoroughfare for snowmobiling, offering access to hundreds of miles of trails. The restaurant serves a full dining and drink menu, including steaks, seafood, barbecued ribs, appetizers, sandwiches and cocktails.

    Forsyth Sunlite Resort

    • Forsyth Sunlite Resort is located near Rhinelander, 130 miles from the Green Bay area. It is on Lake George and features rental cottages equipped with a kitchen, a living room, bedrooms and a full bathroom and shower. The resort is a sponsor of the Hodag Sno-Trails and is pit stop No. 40, providing direct access to the snowmobile trails. Five of the seven cabins have two bedrooms and two of them are three-bedroom units. The resort features a community area for cleaning fish, a bar and game room, an outdoor fire pit, a playground and a sand volleyball court. Canoes and paddleboats are free to use and motorboats are available for rent.
