Bordered by Sam Houston National Forest and less than an hour north of downtown Houston, man-made Lake Conroe boasts over 21,000 acres of water and wildlife. Campgrounds line the shoreline, and cabins, both luxury and more basic, are available for those looking for a comfortable base to enjoy swimming, boating and fishing.
Waterfront cabins at Bishop’s Landing can sleep up to six people and include a full bathroom and an efficiency kitchen. All the cabins have outdoor grills and porches. The cabins sit on 41 acres with 2,000 feet of waterfront property, providing easy access to Lake Conroe. In addition to fishing, swimming and other lake activities, guests can enjoy Bishop Landing’s baseball field, mini-golf course and horseshoe pits, as well as tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. Swimming pools are also available during the warmer months.
Thousand Trails Lake Conroe RV & Camping Resort offers cabin rentals as well as 360 RV and tent sites to anyone holding a camping pass purchased through their website. All of the cabins come equipped with efficiency kitchens and full bathrooms. Linens are included. Pets are not allowed in the cabins, with the exception of one five-person unit. The woods surrounding the resort include nature trails that provide easy access to Lake Conroe. Visitors can use the fitness center or play basketball, tennis, volleyball, mini-golf, shuffleboard or horseshoes before dipping into the swimming pool or relaxing in the hot tub. The resort is close to downtown Willis, but also features an on-site restaurant, camp store and laundry facilities.
Set back from the marina under the trees, Stow-A-Way Marina & RV Park is equally well-suited for families or solo fishermen with rustic cabins and luxury cottages for rent. Rustic-style cabins include a half-bath and use of showers in the RV park's bathhouse. Luxury cottages include full bathrooms and kitchenettes, as well as large porches and decks with barbecue grills. Guests staying in the luxury units are also granted pool privileges. All guests have access to the full service marina and boat launches, as well as canoe and kayak rentals and an on-site restaurant and store.
The Lake Conroe/Houston North KOA is just a five-minute drive from Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas. The KOA has deluxe cabins that include four-piece bathrooms and fully equipped kitchens. Pets are welcome in all the cabins. Visitors can use the indoor pool or soak in the hot tub. Tennis courts, an outdoor wading pool and a barbecue pavilion are also open to guests, as are volleyball, basketball and shuffleboard courts. In addition, the KOA hosts events such as ice cream socials, hay rides and outdoor movies.
