WNIS-AM 790 is a Norfolk, Virginia-based news and talk radio station. The station is part of the Fox News radio network and on weekdays airs programs by conservative commentators Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. On weekday mornings, the local Macrini's Morning News Team airs for four hours, with host Tony Macrini. The station also provides local weather and traffic updates periodically, as well as information about school closings. The station also broadcasts Washington Redskins, University of Virginia and Virginia Tech football games.
WTAR-AM 850 is also based out of the nearby city of Norfolk. The station follows an all-talk format, with the exception of some sports broadcasts. In cooperation with WNIS--the two stations have common ownership--WTAR broadcasts Washington Redskins, University of Virginia and Virginia Tech football games. In addition, the station broadcasts NASCAR races via the Performance Racing Network and the Motor Racing Network. On weekdays, the station broadcasts the popular "Imus in the Morning" show and the nationally syndicated Neal Boortz. The local call-in show "Ask the Expert" also airs daily. STAR 1310 WGH-AM is based in Virginia Beach. The station follows a Gospel and African-American interest format. The station broadcasts the syndicated "Yolanda Adams Morning Show" on weekday mornings, with local traffic, weather and news updates throughout the morning. The midday to early evening hours are filled with Gospel music, with local hosts Mark Rawlison and Dale Murray. Pastor Melrick Bogier plays contemporary Gospel music "with an urban and hip-hop flavor," according to the station's website, on weekday nights. On weekends the station plays inspirational and Gospel music, with a variety of local hosts.
