Glen Canyon Dam is a popular tourist destination on the border of Arizona and Utah. Glen Canyon is the sight of natural rock formations and wildlife. Visitors enjoy hiking the red rock cliffs and canyons as well as exploring the pristine waters of Lake Powell and the rapids of the Colorado River. Several tour operators offer guided tours of Glen Canyon Dam and its vicinities.
The Glen Canyon Natural History Association offers daily guided tours of Glen Canyon Dam. Tours last 45 minutes and include explanations of the region's ecosystem as well as descriptions of the plants and animals that thrive there. Group size is limited to 20, including infants and children. Reservations must be made and paid for 24 hours in advance at the Carl Hayden Visitor Center. Special group tours can also be arranged for up to 40 people.

Experience Glen Canyon Dam aboard a pontoon raft tour offered by Colorado River Discovery. Half and full-day guided tours start in Page, Arizona, where guests travel on the 2-mile Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. From there, they hop on a raft. Tour leaders explain the history of the region as well as the role of the dam in the area's water and power system. The tour includes a stop at ancient petroglyphs. Children under 4 are not permitted.

John Powell Memorial Museum offers several Colorado River rafting trips in the smooth waters underneath the Glen Canyon Dam. Two tours are offered daily and include a ride down the Glen Canyon access tunnel and smooth river raft experience. Tour amenities include local area expert guides. Guests are responsible for their own meals. Children under 4 are not permitted.
