This is the most popular tour option, as it offers a variety of experiences and presentations that include a 20-minute film, a visit to the power plant and a variety of multimedia exhibits highlighting the history and construction of Hoover Dam.
Priced a little higher, this tour option includes everything that is offered on the Power Plant Tour. It also features a guided excursion to some rarely seen spots inside Hoover Dam.
This is simply a pass to the Visitor Center, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Visitor Center is closed two days a year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. All visitors must go through a security screening before entering.
Hoover Dam is located about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas. If you're driving, head south on US Hwy 93. Pass through Boulder City and take a left at the second stoplight before resuming travel along the highway. Simply follow the signs to reach a multilevel garage on the Nevada side of the dam. It's open daily from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., and a fee is charged for parking.
Tours are available daily beginning at 9:15 a.m. The last tour is offered at 5:15 p.m. during the summer season and 4:15 p.m. during the winter season. You should arrive no later than 2 p.m. to make the most of your visit. All tour options (except for the Hoover Dam Tour) are wheelchair accessible. Hoover Dam is busiest from the end of May through August. Since temperatures are at their highest during these months, wear comfortable clothing, a hat and sunglasses.
