Great Day Trip From Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon

If you can drag yourself out of the casino, away from the great restaurants or out of the pool, Las Vegas, Nevada, is an ideal starting point for day trips. The Lake Mead Recreation area offers hiking and Hoover Dam lets you look inside a spectacular man-made mechanical wonder. But for sheer natural beauty, head to the Grand Canyon. From Las Vegas, you can easily visit both the South Rim, home of Grand Canyon National Park, and West Rim, with its Skywalk.

    • Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters has daily tours of otherwise inaccessible areas of the Grand Canyon. A helicopter gives you a unique perspective on the canyon, and one flight brings tourists to the Havasupai Village at the bottom. You can see over half of the vast canyon on these tours, much more than you can see on foot.
