Day Events in the Las Vegas, Nevada Area

Many think that all Las Vegas, Nev., has to offer is nightlife, gambling and drinking. While the nightlife is what makes Las Vegas so famous, there are many daytime events held throughout the year that can add fun to a vacation.

  1. Martin Luther King Day Parade

    • In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, every year on the holiday a parade is held in downtown Las Vegas. There are floats, marching bands and many prominent people of the city march in this parade to pay tribute. Around the area are many places in which to eat and shop after the parade is over.

    Chinese New Year

    • Every February, the Las Vegas Asian/Pacific Cultural Center sponsors various festivals and parades throughout the city. At these events you will be able to see lion dances, Chinese acrobats and vendors selling trinkets, food and drinks. In many of the hotels you may even see a Chinese dragon go past.

    NASCAR Busch Grand Series

    • Every March, NASCAR fans gather at the raceway to watch their favorite race car drivers in the Sam's Town 300 race, part of Busch Grand Series. Most of the events held at the raceway take place during the day, and you can also participate in the famous tailgating parties.

    Art in the Park

    • If you are visiting Las Vegas in October, Art in the Park is an event you can attend. Artists, jewelers and other craftsman attend this festival to display and sell their artwork. All proceeds of the event go toward benefiting the Boulder City Hospital Foundation.

    Las Vegas Marathon

    • Every December, many gather at Mandalay Bay to participate in the Las Vegas Marathon. The race begins at Mandalay Bay, goes down the Las Vegas Strip, around Clark County and ends back at Mandalay Bay. This is an all-day event. After the race there are many banquets and parties that participants and non-participants can participate in. Proceeds from the race go toward helping Las Vegas charities.
