The Best Swimming Pools in Las Vegas, Nevada

With summer temperatures that often break the 100-degree mark, pools in Las Vegas are as necessary to visitors as pianos were to Liberace. Las Vegas resort pools are like Vegas itself: lavish, over-the-top and oozing with "wow-factor." Frommer's Travel Guides and the LA Times agree that the Las Vegas' pool offerings at the Flamingo, Mandalay Bay and the Mirage are some of your best pool bets.

  1. The Flamingo

    • Live flamingos are your swimming buddies.

Located on 15 acres filled with topical plants, palm trees and running rivers, the Flamingo Hotel offers a 150-foot waterslide dropping into terraced pools. Stocked ponds and lagoons with koi, turtles, exotic birds and Chilean flamingos are interlaced throughout the swimming and sunning areas. The feature pool is 80-feet-long and heated.

Swim-up gaming tables, a Beach Club Cafe and three cocktail bars are available. Private cabanas with waitstaff, an LCD TV and a mini-fridge are available for rent.

    Mandalay Bay

    • Wave pool, lazy rivers and poolside cocktails are available at Mandalay Bay.

With acres of water park activity, Mandalay Bay is a best bet for its wave pool, beach, lazy river, whirlpools and three free-form swimming pools. Located on 11 acres, the Sand-and-Surf Beach is filled with 2,700 tons of real sand. One hundred cabanas are available for rent. There are bungalows, day beds and villas with personalized services also available.

The Beachside Casino, featuring a climate-controlled gambling venue, is just steps away from the Beach. In 2007, a $30 million expansion added premium seating to the pools, in addition to the casino. A Beach Concert Series is scheduled for the summer months.

    The Mirage

    • The Mirage pools are a tropical oasis.

Featuring six waterfalls, shaded grottoes, waterslides and nearby bottlenose dolphins, the pools at the Mirage offer a quarter of a mile of swimming activity. Coves, two pools and three slides in different shapes and sizes offer multiple ways to sun and swim.

Located in the tropical garden are the Dolphin Bar and the Paradise Cafe, and beverage service is available poolside. Pool rafts, towels, children's life jackets and lounge chairs are available.

An exclusive adult pool experience called Bare offers DJ-spun music and European-style sun bathing (topless) at two dipping pools, with private cabanas, chaise lounge chairs and daybeds. Poolside cocktail and specialty food service is available and bottle service is offered.
