  1. Milwaukee County Zoo

    • Milwaukee County Zoo contains over 2,200 animals from 320 species. Animals represented at the Milwaukee County Zoo include orangutans, red pandas, leopard sharks, king penguins, African elephants, vampire bats and ring-tailed lemurs. Discounted entrance rates are available for groups. Birthday parties are also available for children turning between 4 and 13 years, including food, drink and a stuffed animal for the celebrating child.

    Milwaukee Christian Center

    • The Milwaukee Christian Center has a number of youth programs serving children in the area. Programs offered by the center include after-school programs such as cooking classes, mentoring, tutoring, field trips and meals for children between 7 and 12. The center also has a youth development program for ages 10 to 19 that includes help with homework, a gym, computer classes, field trips and sports leagues.

    Betty Brinn Children's Museum

    • The Betty Brinn Children's Museum offers interactive learning experiences to young people in and around Milwaukee. The museum includes four gallery areas. Children can experience exhibits touching on visual, performing and language arts, as well as topics like physics and broadcasting. The museum also includes an area specially designed for very young children and toddlers. Prices are $6 for adults and children and $5 for seniors as of 2010.

    Discovery World

    • Discovery World is a science museum serving the greater Milwaukee area. Exhibits include an exploration of the Les Paul (both the person and the science behind his revolutionary guitar), an aquarium (including aquatic life from the Great Lakes, Caribbean and north Atlantic Ocean), an airplane simulator and a nuclear reactor.

      Discovery World also offers summer camps for ages 7 to 14, each running for a week. The camps boast a low faculty-to-student ratio and emphasize creative and interactive activities.
