The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary, or place where salt and fresh waters mix, in North America. As a result, the bay supports hundreds of types of plants, fish, mollusks and other wildlife. Visitors to the area, also known as the Susquehanna River Valley, often spend time gazing at the waterfront while dining on area specialties including blue crabs and oysters.
Sam's on the Waterfront is tucked away in the middle of Chesapeake Harbor Marina in Annapolis. It serves traditional crab- and steak-house fare, including lamb, filet mignon and jumbo lump crab cakes in addition to contemporary specialties such as Vietnamese lobster rice noodle salad, lobster mac and tuna tartare with quail egg. The restaurant serves an array of double and single malt scotches, specialty rums and flavored martinis. Dockside dining is available, as is an outdoor bar and indoor lounge. Sam's on the Waterfront is open for lunch, dinner and late-night fare throughout the year and is closed on Mondays from October through April.
