Waterfront Restaurants in Maryland

The state of Maryland has 31 miles of shoreline along the Atlantic Coast and nearly 4,000 miles of total shoreline with the addition of the state's rivers and lakes, according to the Maryland Office of Tourism's website. When visiting some of Maryland's most notable coastal destinations such as the cities of Baltimore, Annapolis and Ocean City, enjoy a meal overlooking the water at one of the waterfront restaurants.

  1. Bo Brooks Restaurant

    • Bo Brooks Restaurant is in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore and overlooks the Chesapeake Bay. The restaurant opened in 1964 and specializes in seafood, particularly crabs. The menu begins with 24 appetizers and soups, including the cream of crab soup, which has been recognized by "Zagat" dining guide. The entree specialty is the steamed crabs, seasoned with Old Bay and served whole. For dessert, try the bread-pudding made with gingersnaps and flavored with raisins and orange-flavored liqueur. The restaurant features a full bar and serves lunch and dinner daily. Reservations are suggested and taken both online and by phone. Casual attire is appropriate. A children's menu is available.

    Severn Inn

    • Situated in Annapolis, the Severn Inn provides views of the Severn River as well as the U.S. Naval Academy. The restaurant held "Zagat" dining guide ratings of "very good to excellent" for its food and decor and "good to very good" for its service as of September 2010. Fifteen appetizers lead the menu, such as the lobster and asparagus tempura and the meatballs made with ground veal and black truffles. The signature entree is the crab cakes, which come with fried green tomatoes, red coleslaw and house-made potato chips seasoned with Old Bay. Another is the chateaubriand, 16 ounces of seared beef tenderloin intended for sharing by two diners. Featuring approximately 275 selections, the wine list is a past recipient of the Wine Spectator magazine Award of Excellence. The Severn Inn serves lunch Monday through Saturday, dinner nightly and brunch every Sunday. Reservations are highly suggested. Business casual attire is recommended. You can dine on the restaurant's deck, weather permitting.

    Fager's Island Restaurant and Bar

    • Fager's Island Restaurant and Bar is in Ocean City and faces the Assawoman Bay, giving views of the water from its indoor dining room and outdoor pavilion and decks. To start the meal, diners can select one of 12 appetizers such as the blackened scallops or the house special chicken livers and water chestnuts, which are wrapped in bacon and accompanied with a horseradish sauce. The house specialty entree is the prime rib, which comes with freshly-shaved horseradish and seasonal vegetables. The restaurant has a full bar. Fager's Island Restaurant and Bar is open for lunch and dinner daily as well as for brunch on Sundays. Reservations are highly recommended, particularly for dinner. Business casual attire is appropriate for eating in the dining room, but casual attire is acceptable outside or in the restaurant's lounge area.
