The Half Shell restaurant opened its doors in 2009 and is located in downtown Gulfport. The restaurant is open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm or 9pm on Sundays. A variety of seafood dishes are available, as well as steaks and pasta, but the speciality of the house is oysters. Oysters are served up in several different ways, from the classic raw in the half shell, to the house specialty charbroiled with herb butter. The restaurant can also cater private functions either within its mezzanine level or off site by appointment.

Palmetto's on the Bayou is located about 45 miles outside of Gulfport, just over the border in Louisiana. Palmetto's offers a varied range of Creole cuisine. In addition to its cuisine, the restaurant features dance lessons, live music and displays of cooking to add to guests' experience. Open 5 days a week, Wednesday to Sunday, the restaurant offers an oyster bar on its rear porch area. The back porch also offers the chance to indulge in waterfront dining.

The White Cap restaurant is a small diner type set up which offers fresh seafood at reasonable prices. It is located just across the road from one of Gulfport's many man-made white sand beaches. Aside from the seafood options, the White cap also offers steaks, burgers and a range of Po-boy sandwiches. If you buy by the dozen, the restaurant's oyster bar offers fresh shellfish on the half shell for less than a dollar per oyster.
