Columbus, Ohio, the state's capital, is home to an assortment of fun things to do. Both kids and adults will enjoy exploring the city's outdoors as well as indoor exhibits and activities.

  1. Go to the Zoo

    • The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is a world-renowned facility with 90 acres of wildlife exhibits, including elephants, manatees, big cats and much more. The zoo is divided into seven regions, each representing a different part of the world or a different habitat: Asia Quest; Polar Frontier in North America; North America; African Forest; Australia; The Islands of Southeast Asia; and The Shores. The zoo is actually in Powell, Ohio but is just north of the Columbus city limits.

    Go to the Park

    • The Franklin Park Conservatory is more than just a park. There are 88 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The Conservatory houses 400 different plant species. Its main feature is the Victorian Palm House with over 40 species of palms. The rest of the conservatory is filled with smaller botanical gardens and decorated with floral displays. The displays change with the seasons. Annual exhibits are Blooms and Butterflies, Holidays at the Conservatory, and The Orchid Forest. Pieces by glass artist Dale Chihuly are displayed prominently throughout the conservatory and are incorporated into the surrounding flora and fauna.

    Go to the Center of Science and Industry (COSI)

    • Not your ordinary museum, the Center of Science and Industry, better known as COSI, is a hands-on learning museum for young and old alike. COSI has seven exhibit areas with permanent exhibits such as ones about the ocean and space. It also has a gallery with an exhibit that changes regularly. All exhibits provide hands-on learning. Visitors to the center can also view science-themed movies on the Extreme Screen or ride the Highwire Unicycle. COSI's vision is to "be known around the world as the organization that pioneers the most powerful blend of rich science learning and spectacular FUN."

    Go Shopping

    • Shopping is a favorite pastime of many in the Columbus, Ohio, area. In addition to its abundance of discount stores and specialty shops scattered around the city, Columbus is home to a special shopping area called Easton Town Center. Set up like a small urban town center, Easton has over 170 shops and restaurants. There are also fountains and children's parks scattered throughout where shoppers can stop and relax.
