As a melting pot of cultures, Atlanta has a number of clubs that pay tribute to the sounds of Kingston. Jamaica is the birthplace of reggae music, a style characterized as slower than ska but faster than rocksteady that makes use of African and Caribbean undertones together with rhythm and blues. A trip to Atlanta's reggae clubs will make visitors feel like they're on the streets of Jamaica.
Apache Café is an ordinary Latin-Caribbean restaurant with some southwestern flair in the morning, but when the sun comes down great reggae music joins the mix. Apache Café was designed with the idea of having a place where people can meet up after work to indulge in mouthwatering dishes and enjoy relaxing music. The café also houses a gallery where people can admire a variety of art pieces. As of April 2010 there is a $10 drink minimum for patrons seated at a table, and the property permits smoking only on the patio and outside the club. Most of the club's events are open to individuals 18+ or 21+. Apache Café does not require reservations but does extend priority to patrons with reserved tables.

This upscale club in downtown Atlanta draws inspiration from chic bars in major cities like New York, Miami and Los Angeles. Because of the club's vibe, partygoers may be rubbing shoulders with celebrities and other VIPs. This popular venue plays music from across the spectrum, including everything from electronica to reggae. In fact, one of the club's resident DJs--DJ Jamad--plays specifically reggae and other Latin genres and is known as "The Messenger" not only in the country but also in Europe, where he worked for more than a decade.

Kaya Club and Bistro is an upscale hip-hop and rap club that African American professionals often frequent. Kaya seeks to provide adults with a place where they can have fun and relax but at the same time allows for guests to mingle and socialize. The club features reggae music on Wednesdays. Kaya Club and Bistro is a rather popular venue, so you'll need to arrive early if you don't want to wait in line. If you really want to get in and quick, the club has a VIP line at the back--but be prepared to pay twice more for the admission.
