Beaches Near Lake Jackson, Texas

The city of Lake Jackson, Texas is located along the Brazos River and the Brazoria Reservoir. Located near Lake Jackson is the vast Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, in addition to many small lakes, canals, and rivers. While there are no beaches in Lake Jackson, just 10 miles southeast of the city, you will find yourself on beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.

  1. Quintana Beach

    • Quintana Beach is approximately 10 miles southeast of Lake Jackson. This beach, populated with a small village, is between Old Brazos River and the new Brazos River. Beachfront amenities provided in the Quintana Beach County Park include a paved boardwalk accessing the beach, showers, and public restrooms. Located down the beach at Xeriscape Park is a fishing pier, nature trails, a historical cemetery, a hummingbird garden, and an abundance of birds and butterflies. There is one museum in the Xeriscape Park, the Coveney House, which features historical exhibits about the area around Quintana Beach.

    Surfside Beach

    • Eight miles southeast of Lake Jackson is Surfside Beach. The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway is located near Surfside Beach. For surfers, Surfside has some of the most consistent surf along the upper Texas coastline. The best surf can be found half a mile north of Surfside's Jetty Park. At Jetty Park, you can also find picnic areas, restrooms, a playground, and walking trails. Fishing is also allowed off the jetty. In addition to Surfside Jetty, another good fishing location is Surfside's San Luis Pass fishing pier. For crabbing, try the Surfside Crabbing Pier. Additional activities at Surfside Beach include shelling, kayaking, boating, and bird watching. Rare species of osprey, reddish egret, and rosette spoonbill have been spotted at Surfside Beach. In addition to surfers and fishermen, Surfside is a popular beach location for families.

    Bryan Beach

    • Located in Brazoria County, 11 miles from Lake Jackson, is Bryan Beach, one of the few Texas beaches that still allows driving and overnight camping on the beach. Bryan Beach is found in the Bryan Beach State Recreation Area. This 878-acre park is located at the mouth of the Brazos River. The secluded beach has an undeveloped beachfront with 10-foot sand dunes. The beach has incredible sunsets, and offers activities such as fishing, camping, swimming, boating, surfing, and shelling.
