Located next to the St. Croix River, the city of Stillwater, Minnesota, has grown into a recreational destination for Minnesotans and out-of-state tourists alike. The family-owned Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter is a German restaurant that has been in operation since 1966. Owned and operated by a native Bavarian, the restaurant serves traditional German and Bavarian cuisine. The facility even features a Sunday Bavarian Buffet, from noon to 3 p.m. The restaurant serves both a lunch and dinner menu, with traditional dishes such as smoked liver pate, liver dumpling soup, smoke pork chop, lamb shank, and bratwurst. The restaurant also has a Schnitzel menu, with favorites such as Wiener Schnitzel, Rahm Schnitzel (pork cutlets), and Rahm Puten Schnitzel (chicken cutlets). Platters are also available, as are weeknight specials. The restaurant also features a wide selection of German wines and imported Munich beers available on draft.

Bierstube, located in nearby White Bear Lake, offers authentic German cuisine and a menu that features more than 70 items. Traditional dishes include bratwurst, weiner schnitzel, the restaurant's signature Reuben sandwich, German meatballs, brat medallions, and schweine haxen (roasted ham shank with sauerkraut). A selection of hearty American-style sandwiches are also offered, such as burgers and roast beef sandwiches. The restaurants also offers its renowned \"Taste of Deutschland\" sample platter. The original restaurant debuted in 1962, and now features five locations: Hastings, Inner Grove Heights, Oakdale, Redwing, and White Bear Lake.

The restaurant offers traditional German fare such as homemade cheddar or smoke bratwurst, hot German potato salad, sauerkraut, steak medallions, and breaded cauliflower. The restaurant also serves Sunday brunch and features one of the largest selection of tap beers on-site. Fresh produce, baked breads and pastries are sold in the market, and the facility also runs a staffed catering service.
