Separated by 57 miles, Tampa and Sarasota are western Florida vacation jewels. Beaches await tourists who wish to lounge the day away along the warm Gulf waters, while the lights of the cities beckon to those interested in an energized atmosphere. Beyond the beach and the city lights, Tampa and Sarasota also entertain visitors with first-class attractions.
The Florida Aquarium is a 20,000-sq.-ft. complex featuring more than 20,000 aquatic plants and animals. Much more than a traditional aquarium with exhibits and displays, the Florida Aquarium offers visitors a chance to dive in and explore the aquatic world. Children will be entertained by the Explore a Shore outdoor water park, designed specifically with them in mind. At the Swim With the Fishes exhibit, children 6 and older are invited to take a 30-minute swim in coral reef tanks. After you take in the penguin exhibit, consider diving with sharks. This option is available to guests over 15 years of age who have obtained scuba diver certification. On-site dining options include Cafe Ray and Caribbean Cantina.
