Planning a vacation with children can be a challenging experience. Children have short attention spans, so remember to choose a vacation spot that everyone will enjoy. Children are curious. They love to explore and have fun. A vacation spot does not necessarily have to be one of the nation's top places: a trip to a zoo and children's museum in a different city may be a sufficient getaway. There are also some great theme parks throughout the country to choose from.
This is the only theme park in the United States that is based solely on the award-winning television show Sesame Street. This is an ideal vacation spot for families with young children, where they can share the experience together through the park's amusement park rides, water slides, shows and Muppets. Elmo Rocks! is the park's newest show for the 2010 season that celebrates the park's 30th birthday. (Reference 1)

If roughing it is your idea of vacation, there is probably no better campground around for young children than Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. There are four different types of campsites including accommodations for everything from tents to a 45-foot RV. If you are not a camping family, you can still enjoy the resort in one of the cabins at the resort that have a rustic feel while keeping some of the comforts of home. There are plenty of activities such as bike rentals, swimming, and archery. Be sure not to miss the Chip 'n' Dale "Sing-a-Long" marshmallow roast held nightly at the outdoor theater followed by a Disney feature film. (Reference 2)

Wannado City is a theme park where children can play in a realistic way while imagining that they are working in more than 250 available careers. From learning to be a pilot or a fire fighter to being a television news anchor or chef in a restaurant, Wannado City has re-created all the major parts of a real working city and incorporated the professions associated with it. The kids become kidizens and can join the Chamber of Kids. Wannado City even has its own economy with its own currency. Kids can open their own bank account with a check they receive when entering and then make deposits all day long or make withdrawls at any of the ATM machines located throughout the park.
Parents can relax in the Eagle's Nest while their children play in the theme park. The Eagle's Nest is an adult lounge that has free Wi-Fi, cable television and a coffee bar. You can stay connected with your children with the WannaFinder, a locator bracelet that works with kiosks throughout the park to track all the members of your group. (Reference 3)
