What are the Best Steak Restaurants in Oklahoma City?

Oklahoma City has some of the most well-established, old school steakhouses in the Midwest region and diners in search of the tastiest beef should consider a pilgrimage to this city. A steakhouse that's been around for 100 years, a steak-focused restaurant that pays tribute to one of baseball's greats and a romantic escape with a varied menu that includes wood-fired signature beef are all known as some of Oklahoma City's best steak-centric eateries.

  1. Cattlemen's Steak House

    • The title of the oldest restaurant in Oklahoma City goes to Cattlemen's Steak house, and the tale is one that's as good as the food at this landmark destination. The restaurant opened in 1910 as Cattlemen's Cafe and had a clientele of cowboys, ranchers and cattle haulers who worked in the city's stockyards. The original cafe remains virtually the same as it looked when it first opened, but the owners through the years have added on to the space. Two large murals on the dining room walls tell the story of the restaurant's past, which has included celebrity diners the like of Gene Autry, Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. The restaurant is known for both it's hearty breakfast and it's steak dinners. The breakfast menu includes fare like homemade biscuits and gravy, breakfast steak, southern style grits, hash browns with salsa and eggs prepared any way the diner chooses. The steak menu is long and includes virtually every cut of meat prepared to order. Cattlemen's ages its USDA prime cuts of beef on site and the meat is hand-cut in the restaurant's own butcher shop. The top-notch item on the beef menu is the Presidential Choice T-Bone Steak, which the restaurant bills as "two steaks in one," adding that it has the flavor of a sirloin strip with the tenderness of a filet. (This steak is what the first President Bush ate when he visited the restaurant.) Other steak choices include two sizes of bacon-wrapped filet, a rib eye and some unique choices like a top club, a chopped sirloin and both ham and chicken fried steak. Sides are simple and hearty: potatoes, salad and homemade soups included. Desserts don't vary from the usual, though a plate full of strawberry shortcake might be the perfect finish to a meal at Cattlemen's.
