Detroit has more than cars. One of the places to enjoy the calm of the outdoors is the Clinton River in the city's northern suburbs. A cruise down the calm, tree-lined river with the Clinton River Cruise Company provides a touch of the outdoors in the big city. There are three cruising options.
The Clinton is the smallest of the three cruise boats operated by the Clinton River Cruise Company. It can hold up to 35 people, making it ideal for a casual gathering of friends or relatives. The boat can be chartered privately by the hour and, if so desired, the nearby Captain's Landing Restaurant can supply catering. The menu includes appetizers, salads, burgers, steak and seafood. The cruising takes place in the calm waters of the tree-lined Clinton River.

The Captain Paul II is the mid-sized boat for cruising the Clinton River. It can hold up to 55 passengers and, like its little sister, The Clinton, is available for private chartering on an hourly basis. The Captain Paul II offers some interior shelter that The Clinton does not have in case the weather becomes uncooperative during your cruise. Catering is available. The Captain Paul II cruises from May through October.

The Clinton Friendship is a double-deck cruise vessel with a passenger capacity of 150 people. A minimum of 20 people is required before a cruise will set out. The boat operates May through October and can host a major social event, such as a wedding, theme party, reunion, fund-raiser or company party. The staff at Clinton River Cruise Company can help organize your gathering, and catering can be supplied. Amenities include on-board food service, a full-service bar and free dockside parking. Private charters require a guarantee of at least 80 people on the Clinton Friendship. If you want to dance to live music, there's space for up to three musicians. Individual reservations are available for lunch or dinner cruises, and there are special-event cruises throughout the year. There are Murder Mystery Dinner Cruises, a karaoke cruise, Mother's and Father's Day cruises, an annual Blues Cruise and a Halloween Costume party. Advance reservations are required for all outings. Lunch and dinner cruises last about three hours. The Clinton Friendship and its two smaller sisters are U.S. Coast Guard certified. The captain of The Clinton Friendship is a graduate of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy and holds a U.S. Coast Guard Master's license.
