One carry-on measuring 10"(h) x 17"(w) x 24"(l) and one personal item --- such as a purse, laptop or briefcase -- is allowed on Alaska and Horizon flights. Acceptance of carry-on baggage is based on cabin space availability; however, arrangements for bags to be gate-checked is offered free of charge.
For tickets purchased on or after May 1, 2010, a $20 one-way charge for each of the first three bags applies. For tickets purchased prior to May 1, 2010, a one-way charge of $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second bag applies. Bags can weigh up to 50 lbs. and cannot exceed 62 linear inches. For flights operated by Alaska, bags must be checked in within 40 minutes of flight departure for domestic flights and within 60 minutes for international flights. For flights operated by Horizon Air, bags must be checked within 30 minutes of flight departure and 60 minutes for international travel. Please note, passengers traveling on Alaska Airlines from Atlanta, Denver and Las Vegas must check bags within 45 minutes of departure and within 90 minutes for flights from Guadalajara. Other special guidelines apply on Horizon flights from Burbank, Long Beach, Las Vegas, Oakland, Ontario, Portland, Palm Springs, Reno, San Diego, Seattle and San Jose.
Passengers must be 18 years of age or older to transport firearms on board flights operated by Alaska Airlines. Handguns must be unloaded and packed in a hard-sided container locked with a key or lock combination in the passenger's possession only. Rifles, shotguns and other firearms must be unloaded and carried in a locked hard-sided container where only the passenger retains the key. These items may be included within your normal baggage allowance.
