Customs & Currency Airport Tax Regulations of France

France, a country in western Europe, has customs, currency and import rules. These rules are set by the European Union (EU), a supranational governmental authority covering most of Europe, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
  1. Currency

    • Like most EU nations, France uses the Euro as its currency. There are no restrictions on currency importation or exportation from another EU country. If traveling from or to a country outside of the EU, travelers must declare any amount of currency more than the equivalent of 10,000 Euros.

    Customs

    • France, like other EU nations, has customs regulations. Various items, such as animals, legal drugs (tobacco, alcohol) and high-value items, must be declared before entering the country. Certain items, such as meat, fur and illegal drugs, cannot be imported into France.

    Airport Taxes

    • According to IATA, passengers departing from airports in France do not need to pay airport taxes. Passengers may still have to pay taxes when departing from an airport in their home country.
