Major Airports in South Carolina

South Carolina, also known as the Palmetto State, has more than 70 international, military and county airports. The largest airports, however, are the three international ones: Charleston International, Greenville-Spartanburg International and Myrtle Beach International.

  1. Charleston International Airport

    • Charleston International Airport is located in downtown North Charleston, and shares facilities with the neighboring Charleston Air Force Base. The 9,000 foot long main runway, and the 7,000 foot long crosswind runway, are kept connected by a network of taxiways. The 270,000 square foot, three-level terminal complex has 10 gates, and parking space for approximately 4,000 vehicles.

    Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport

    • Established in 1962, the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport has grown to become a 226,000 square foot complex with 13 gates and second level jet bridge boarding. The longest runway here is more than 11,000 feet in length, enabling the airport to provide adequate landing space for any type of aircraft. The terminal complex also boasts a 120,000 square foot Fed Ex facility. Over a million passengers utilize one of the 16 airlines that land and depart from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport every year.

    Myrtle Beach International Airport

    • Owned by Horry County and run by the Department of Airports, Myrtle Beach International Airport is a two-level facility, with four gates located on the ground level. For those with disabilities, the airport offers wheelchair ramps, wheelchair-friendly doors and elevators, and signs in Braille, as well as the ability to bring seeing-eye dogs into the terminal and onto the planes. Myrtle Beach International Airport also offers rental cars, a gift shop, and a food court with a coffee shop, Subway and Pizza Hut.
