Rules & Regulations for Traveling on Lufthansa Airlines

A flag carrier for Germany, Lufthansa Airlines manages more than 2,250 take-offs and landings per day while transporting 193,000 passengers and over 5,200 tons of cargo.

  1. Check-in

    • Online, kiosk and personal check-in rules depend on the airport. Typical of all U.S. airports, Los Angeles International requires check in at least 60 minutes before departure.

    Carry-ons

    • First and business class passengers may take up to two pieces of hand luggage. Economy Class only allows one piece. Each piece must be under 21 by 15 by 7 inches and under 17 pounds.

    Baggage

    • Checked-in bags for First and Business Class can consists of two pieces weighing 70 pounds each. In economy, the limit is 50 pounds each.

    Pets

    • You may take a small dog or cat into the cabin, if the weight doesn't exceed 17 pounds, including the transport container. The box must measure under the carry-on limits.

    Passport

    • Passport data must be registered beforehand during check-in. You can save time on this process by using the check-in kiosks at the airport.
