American Airlines Advantage miles can be redeemed for cash, flight miles, and many other services. While flying is the most obvious way to gain miles, it is possible to pick up miles every month through AA's retail partners. You must have an active AAdvantage account to accumulate these points.
Sign in to aa.com and click to the AAdvantage page. Sign in with your AAdvantage number and password.
Click on the "Earn Miles" link. The AAdvantage plan partners are listed on the page under "Other Travel Participants," "Earn Miles with Featured Non-Travel Participants" and "More Non-Travel Participants."
Click on any link for an explanation of the program benefits. For example, "Retail" shows what businesses track AA miles. For example, every $1 spent at Teleflora and FTD was worth 10 miles. A new Dell computer purchase was worth 6,000 miles, and every $1 spent on any Bose product was worth 2 miles.
For guaranteed miles every month, subscribe to "USA Today." Every new subscription was worth 1,000 miles, and another 100 miles every four weeks as long as the subscription remained active. As of 2011, the subscription cost $19.95 a month.
