About JetBlue

JetBlue Airways is a commercial airline based in New York. JetBlue trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol JBLU. JetBlue flies in and out of more than 50 locations in the continental U.S., as well as the Caribbean, the Bahamas, southern Mexico, Bermuda and Colombia.

  1. History

    • JetBlue is a relatively new airline. It began in February 1999 under founder David Neeleman. In April 1999, the airline was called New Air and began buying aircraft. JetBlue's first flight was between JFK Airport in New York City and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Feb. 11, 2000. On June 10, 2004, JetBlue launched its first international flight, between JFK and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

    Geography

    • Most of the airports that JetBlue serves are on the East and West coasts of the continental U.S. Additionally, there are dozens of airports in and around the Bahamas.     Features

    • JetBlue is a low-cost, no-frills airline. For example, the airline does not serve meals, in order to keep costs down. Some features of JetBlue flights include cable TV, radio and in-flight movies, free snacks such as coffee, soft drinks, cookies and crackers, and free wireless service.

    Identification

    • JetBlue can be recognized by its trademark white paint with blue-painted wings. JetBlue uses Airbus A320 aircrafts. JetBlue's tagline is "Happy Jetting."
