Avantair, based in Florida, is a private airline that offers customers an alternative to chartering a plane--you become part-owner of the plane you use. Plane ownership plans alleviate the long-term costs of charter plane leasing. Here's how to book travel on Avantair.
Explore Avantair's programs and pricing or submit a request-for-information form through the company's Web site (see Resources below). Avantair does not allow booking over the Internet or by phone until you have purchased fractional ownership of a plane.
Call or e-mail Avantair for more details at (877) 289-7180, or e-mail them at [email protected] to discuss purchasing shares.
Book Avantair flights once you have secured an ownership interest through the Internet, by e-mail or by phone.
Visit the Avantair corporate headquarters. Currently, Avantair is located at 4311 General Howard Dr. in Clearwater, Florida, and is building a new facility in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Avantair suggests that if you fly charter planes more than 25 hours a year, fractional ownership may be cost efficient. Most charter air services charge by the hour, and fares include costly fuel fees and charges for time spent on the ground preparing for flight. Avantair charges monthly set fees.
Avantair offers multiple plans, which range from a 1/16-share plan that allows for 50 hours of flight a year to a full ownership plan that includes 800 hours of use.
Avantair offers Piaggio Avanti aircraft for part ownership. The Avanta has seven large leather seats, an enclosed lavatory facility, onboard phone and ample headroom to stand in the cabin.
The Piaggio Avanti flies at speeds up to 450 mph, making nonstop travel between New York and Chicago possible, and it is also capable of flying at an altitude of 41,000 feet, which gives pilots the ability to fly above most severe weather conditions.
