Midway Airport Parking Tips

Traveling by air is frustrating at times and delays only add to the other problems like parking, arriving on time and going through security. Chicago's Midway Airport is smaller than O'Hare Airport and has concourses for Frontier Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Air Tran and Continental Airlines in 2009. With a few parking tips, you can focus on your destination instead of your experience at Midway Airport.
  1. Parking at Midway

    • Midway Airport offers three parking options, including a "Hourly" lot at a rate of $4 per hour with the first 10 minutes free, a "Daily" garage with a 24-hour maximum priced at $28 and three Economy lots that offer a free shuttle bus from the lot to the airport. Make a note of the number on the lot where you parked so you can find your car quickly. The 24-hour rate is $14 (prices as of October 2009), and the Economy lot is ideal if you need to park for a longer period of time. There are two lots located east of Cicero Avenue, and one parking lot located ¼ mile west of Cicero Avenue on 55th Street. When parking, leave your parking ticket in your car so you don't misplace it.

    Off-Site Parking Close to Midway

    • Instead of parking at the Midway Airport, park at one of the many parking facilities close to the airport--Midway Park Ride and Fly, Airport Parking Express or Airways Parking. Most off-site parking sites offer a shuttle directly into the airport so you don't have worry about walking and carrying your bags from the parking location. Make sure you don't leave anything in your car that can be seen from the outside and lock your car's doors.

    Handicap & Disabled Tips

    • If you are handicapped, disabled or have trouble walking, try to park at one of the many handicap parking spots close to the entrance to Midway Airport. Don't depend on an airport shuttle or courtesy clerk being present if you arrive and need help, especially during busy hours or late at night. If you need help with your bags or with walking, bring someone to help you or call the airport directly and see if they have a courtesy clerk that could help you.

    Money

    • Withdraw some money from your bank's ATM before arriving at the airport. Most airport ATMs charge a higher fee for withdrawing money, especially if the ATM is not connected to your bank. You may want to pay cash for parking, buying food or other items at Midway Airport.
