How to Monitor DCA

Approximately 18 million travelers pass through the Reagan National Airport, also known as DCA, each year and it is served by 11 national airlines daily. That is a lot of data to keep up with and the most-current information helps passengers and drivers traveling to the airport facilitate smoother, stress-free travel. Depending on how you like to get information, there are a variety of ways to monitor DCA flights and air traffic.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the "Flight Schedules" page of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (see Resources). Click "Flights to" or "Flights from" Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, then enter a "City or Airport name," "Preferred Date" and "Preferred Airlines" in the appropriate fields.

    • 2

Pick an application from the "Gadgets and Widgets" section of the "Flight Stats Personal Tools" page that fits your needs (see References). For example, the "Flight Status Gadget" lets you track a flight by route, flight number or airport, while the "Current Airport Delays" provides current data and maps on departure delays.

    • 3

Add a Flight Stats RSS Feed from the "Flight Stats Personal Tools" page to your News aggregator on Yahoo!, Google or MSN (see References). Click the RSS feed service you prefer and then follow the onscreen instructions to add the feed to your RSS reader.

    • 4

Install a mobile app on your smartphone. Pick a "Flight Tracking" application from your app store or market based on positive reviews and price.

    • 5

Get the toll-free number for your airline from the "Airlines Serving DCA" (see Resources). Call the number for up-to-the-minute details on flights serving Reagan National Airport.
