Academy Bus runs two separate services on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from stops in or near Ocean Township. The first, to the Taj Mahal Casino and Trump Plaza, picks up in Ocean Township near Rizzo's Pizza at 1594 NJ Route 35 and at the Asbury Park Transportation Center on Main and Cookman Avenues in Asbury Park, about 4 miles away. Passengers need to flag the bus at both stops. The second service, to Hilton and Bally's Casinos, leaves from the Academy Terminal, 890 NJ Route 36 in Leonardo, about 18 miles away. Both services run once a day and take about three hours.
Academy Bus also runs a daily service from the Jackson Park and Ride on Progress Place in Jackson, New Jersey, about 23 miles away but a short trip on I-95. This once-daily service visits Trump Plaza and Showboat casinos. The trip takes about two hours with return trips in the late afternoon or early evening.
It is possible to make the journey from Ocean Township to Atlantic City by public transportation, using New Jersey Transit buses. The journey can take up to four hours and involves using four or five different buses and paying multiple fares. Nevertheless, it can be done. NJ Transit, the New Jersey public transit authority, has an online trip planner on its website. By entering your location and destination as well as the date and time you want to travel, the planner will automatically plot a route that includes bus stops, bus numbers, times and prices (see Resources).
