Access the website of your preferred rental car agency and go to the reservations page.
Enter the location from which you would like to pick up your rental. This includes a specific city, in this case New York City, a zip code, or an airport.
Enter the month and day you wish to pick up your rental. Enter the time you will pick up the car. Enter the month, day and time you will return the vehicle.
Select the type of vehicle you wish to rent. Typical options include: Economy, Standard, Compact, Full Size, Luxury, SUV, Truck and Minivan. If you do not have a preference, leave the field blank or select no preference.
Enter your age in the appropriate field. Most rental car companies require renters to be at least 25 years old; however, some do allow younger rentals for an additional fee.
Review and select a location from the list of available car rental locations. Review the available car types and prices. Note whether or not the listed prices include taxes and fees, typically they do not. Select the car you would like to rent.
Enter your full name and home phone number in the appropriate fields. Enter your e-mail address if you wish to receive an e-mail confirmation of your reservation.
Enter a credit type in the payment type field. Many rental agencies require a major credit card to reserve a vehicle online. Debit cards and other forms of payment are not accepted online; however, you can call or visit a location to reserve a car using another form of payment.
Review the summary of your reservation. This includes the car type, rental dates, daily rental rate, taxes and fees and the total. Also, review the rental terms, which include mileage limitations, additional drivers and insurance options available to you at the time of pick up.
Submit your reservation to complete your booking. Record or print the confirmation information
