Contact local car rental agencies in Kuwait, such as Kuwait Car Rental or Budget Kuwait and find out which cars they have available. With the large number of rental agencies in the country, you should do some price comparison shopping before you sign the final rental agreement. You might also want to ask to take a car for a test drive. You should call and ask if the agency has any special requirements you will need to fulfill, such as submitting an itinerary or taking an international driving safety class, before you will be able to rent an car. Doing this over the phone will save you time from visiting many agencies, and help you determine you will want to do business with.

Create an itinerary for your trip. Determine how long you expect to need the car and roughly how many miles you will be traveling. You should also estimate how much you will spend on fuel during your trip. The number of days, miles traveled and insurance requirements can affect the cost of renting a car. Some car rental agencies require a valid customer passport as a deposit when the customer collects the car. Other rental agencies simply require a copy of the customer's credit card as well as copies of valid passport and international driving license.

Present your driver's license and current automobile insurance card to the rental agent. You do not need a Kuwaiti license or an international license to rent a car in Kuwait, but you must show proof of valid car insurance. If your existing insurance doesn't cover you in Kuwait, you can purchase insurance directly from the rental company. The dealership or agency will also require a credit card and a second form of photo ID--for example, a passport or work ID--to cover the deposit and finalize the rental agreement.

Read the entire rental agreement before you sign it. Make sure you understand exactly what you are responsible for and what the rental company will cover, should something happen to the car while it's in your possession.
