How to Carpool Into Los Angeles

Los Angeles' 405 freeway is one of the busiest freeways in the world. There is traffic at all hours and on all days. Look at it this way- at least your legs will get a work out if you have a car with a manual transmission. If you don't want a leg workout, here are some ideas of how to find a carpool into LA.

Go to Carpool World and carpool with Los Angeles Rideshare (see Resources below). Scroll down on the website and input your beginning and ending address. Read the advertisements and find a match. For example, look for a driver who is going to the same general area. Email the advertisement and arrange the ride.

Visit eRideshare and find carpools beginning and ending at your preferred location (see Resources below). Go to eRideshare's website. Input your zip code on the far left. A screen will appear with lots of information about where the carpool originates and what the destination city is. Check the "Comments" section to determine whether there are any special criteria. Email the person under the appropriate contact box.

Ask a friend or colleague to carpool. California has a carpool lane on most of its freeways and toll roads. Using the carpool lane can get you to your destination quicker, so find someone to ride with you. Some workplaces have programs you can contact to find someone to share your car or a company van.

Choose an off-time to travel. Carpooling is used to get you to your location faster. Sometimes you are going to multiple locations or commuting from an odd area. Skip the searching for a ride sharer and leave early or late. Work off-hours or from home part-time. This is getting much more difficult in LA, but it can be found.
