The eleven-deck, 950 foot-long Westerdam is registered in the Netherlands, accommodating 1,848 passengers and 800 crew. The ship has a maximum speed of 24 knots. With two swimming pools (one indoor), the ship also contains a gym (with fitness classes), computer room, hair salon, five hot tubs, sauna, spa and steam room. Entertainment options include nine bars, a casino, a cinema, two dance clubs, a library, a showroom and video game room. Children's programs (ages 3 to 17) and laundry service are also available.
Passenger cabins range in size from 170 square feet up to 1,000 square-foot penthouse suites. All cabins include Wi-Fi, broadband, refrigerators, safes, DVD players and tubs with showers (suites have tubs with whirlpools). Passengers booking suites gain access to the private Neptune Lounge, which offers snacks, cocktails and a concierge service.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available in the two-level Vista Dining Room or Lido buffet. As Westerdam's main dining room, the Vista hosts several formal dinners during every cruise. A pizzeria, the poolside Terrace Grill and two specialty restaurants round out dining options. Pacific Northwest-themed Pinnacle Grill's menu features steak, lamb and lobster served in a formal setting of Frette linens, Bvlgari china and Riedel stemware. The more casual Canaletto serves uncomplicated Italian food.
For a $75 per head surcharge, the Culinary Arts Center hosts a highly recommended, once-per-cruise, five-course tasting menu. Reservations are required. Through a partnership with Microsoft, Westerdam's computer center offers Digital Workshops ranging from basic Windows instruction to advanced topics in digital photography and editing. An art collection inspired by "Dutch heritage in the New World" includes, among other pieces, 5,000-year-old limestone figures from Ecuador.
