Kid Friendly Cruises

Planning a vacation can be a daunting task. If you're traveling with children, you want to ensure that your travel accommodations and destinations are child friendly. Cruising is a great way to go on a vacation that is fun for the whole family. Most cruise companies are kid friendly, and the ships are designed with special areas and activities just for children.
  1. Royal Caribbean International

    • Royal Caribbean offers dozens of cruises to a variety of places. You can travel to the Caribbean, New England, Canada or Alaska. Once you board the ship, your children will have plenty to keep them busy. They can participate in the free Adventure Ocean Youth Program, which is designed to be both educational and entertaining. Teenagers can enjoy special programs designed for young adults. These include access to a teen-only dance club and a teen-only lounge area. Children ages 3 to 11 can participate in the Adventure Ocean activities such as building sand castles and going on scavenger hunts.

There are even activities for babies. Children as young as 6 months old can (along with a parent) participate in the Fisher-Price Aqua Babies and Aqua Tots Programs, which include music classes and other activities. Children are welcome aboard all Royal Caribbean ships sailing to all of their destinations.

    Carnival Cruise Lines

    • Carnival offers special travel programs for children from the ages of 2 to 17. Camp Carnival is for kids ages 2 to 11, where children participate in activities designed for their age group. All kids are supervised by staff that specialize in education or child care. Kids in the program order food from a child-friendly menu, which includes hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pizza, and macaroni and cheese. The Circle "C" Youth Program is for older youth, ages 12 to 14. A Circle "C" director coordinates special activities designed to help your tween relax and meet other young people on the ship. Activities include dancing, games and outdoor movies, all of which are supervised. Finally, Club O2 is for teenagers ages 15 to 17. Teens in this group can lounge with their newfound friends and watch a movie, listen to music, play video games or sing karaoke. Like Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Lines welcomes children aboard all of its ships, traveling to all of its destinations.
