Can you get from the thames to Bristol channel by boat?

* Route 1: Follow the River Thames downstream from London to the North Sea. Then follow the North Sea and Bristol Channel to Bristol.

* Route 2: Follow the River Thames downstream from London to the English Channel. Then follow the English Channel to the Bristol Channel and then to Bristol.

The first route is longer, but it is also the more scenic. The second route is shorter, but it is also busier with shipping traffic.
