When did London Transport Executive - GLC end?
The London Transport Executive (LT) was actually established by the London Passenger Transport Board Act of 1933, combining various smaller transport companies in the London area. The LT remained under direct control of the British Government with the London Transport Act of 1962. The Greater London Council (GLC) was formed by the London Government Act of 1963 and inherited responsibility for transportation services in London, along with other municipal functions, from the LT. The GLC's control of transportation services lasted from April 1965 until its abolition on 31 March 1986.
