How to Ship an Auto to Aruba

After the best, most relaxing vacation you've ever taken, you aren't ready to leave Aruba and come back to reality. You decide to relocate to the island. Now you have to face the challenge of packing, finding a place to live and moving your belongings from the United States to the Caribbean island. You know you can't drive your car, so you're going to have to find a different way to get your vehicle to your new home. The solution? Shipping companies. These maritime movers will transport your vehicle overseas to and from any location you desire.

Instructions

    • 1

Identify a shipping company that will move your vehicle from the United States to Aruba. Choose whether or not you want to ship your car in a container or by driving it onto a ramp and parking it on a cargo ship.

    • 2

Contact the chosen shipping company by phone, through its website or in person. Schedule a pickup or a time to drop off your vehicle by speaking with a representative about your shipping needs, which should include the location you want to ship your vehicle from and the location where you want to pick it up.

    • 3

Provide the shipping company with the required information. Tell the company the make, model and year of your vehicle. Provide proof of ownership in the form of your title, vehicle registration and photo identification. Closely inspect your vehicle before it is picked up or before you drop it off at the shipping port.

    • 4

Ask what specific international duty, import and/or destination fees charged by Aruba's government. These fees are your responsibility and are charged to you upon payment. If you are shipping personal items inside of your vehicle, you will need to provide receipts for any new items before Aruba's port officials will allow them in the country.

    • 5

Specify the shipping method you would like used for your vehicle. Depending on the shipping company you use, choose express shipping, which is one to three business days, or other available shipping, which takes one to five weeks.

    • 6

Sign all export paperwork, forms and invoices provided by your shipping company. These are required documents needed to export cargo from the United States into foreign countries. Without this paperwork, your vehicle shipment is not permitted delivery into Aruba.

    • 7

Pick up your vehicle in Aruba. You must present valid photo identification. Only the person or persons listed on the shipping paperwork are authorized to pick up the vehicle in Aruba. Inspect the vehicle for damage before taking it from the shipping company. Report any damage to the company immediately.
